A
review about the - ANNEX [Regent St.
Retreat]
The
Annex is one of Madison’s
most premier venues for live music shows. The Annex is on Regent
St., 3 blocks west of Park St.
If
you’re interested in exploring the face of the Madison
local rock scene, the Annex is the place to be. With 2 or three shows
every weekend and as many bands per show, if it’s hot and it’s
rock it will end up and The Annex. Frequently booked local bands
include Inn trance, Muzzy Luctin and Mirror Black.
The
Annex advertises in most local publications, so the turnout is
usually good. The
shows
are great fun. Depending on the band performing,
you might be able to catch some sporadic mosh action in front of
the stage, but security won’t let anything get to wild. If
you’re not into active participation in the crowd, there are
tables and a second bar in the back of the room, so you can observe
the band while sitting.
For a chance to cool off or escape the loud music so you can talk,
you can step over to the attached sister bar, the Regent St. Retreat.
This is also the place to go if you want an alcoholic drink during
an all ages show. This bar is opened all week and comes complete
with pool, darts, foosball, and regulars. This is where musical comedian
Pat McCurdy performs every Tuesday.
If
you’re
confident enough to believe that your band is ready to perform
at The Annex,
you can deliver a promotional kit, including
a CD, bio, and press reviews to…
